Self talk has become a big conversation starter in the professional community. We typically see these types of actions from Olympic athletes. An Instagram influencer, Elisabeth Akinwale shares a compilation of when the camera caught these athletes building themselves up for a legendary performance.
In 2015, MLB changed the rules of sliding and breaking up double plays. The new rule requires players to make a bona fide slide in front of the base, and a violation can result in the batter and runner being called out. Previously, runners were granted one arm length away from the bag.
Since the rule was implemented, it has been passed down to the younger levels. Its been modified and perceived in different ways by umpires. In the most recent plays in college baseball, LSU runner was sliding into second base with the edge of his body being just outside of bag.
