Meme of the week: Don't Mid-Curve It.
I've been teaching baseball for over 16 years. I've taught myself how to switch hit, hit for power on both sides of the plate, and get players to produce more power. Have I made mistakes? Of course. I'll probably continue to do so, but where i've made majority of my mistakes has been overthinking the swing. Trying to be the smartest person in the room, using techno-babble, and confusing everyone...including myself.
Am I hip hinging? Does this scap load look right? What's my exit velocity? All of these questions are good, but it's the season gosh darn-it! Let it rip!
Where I see big problems is when we correct everything except the thing that allows us to hit the ball. Your eyes. Get your body in a position that allows your pupils to work.
Don't mid curve it.
Don't try to sound smart.
Save that for the winter. Have fun!
The Big 3 of the Week
What I'm following
1/ Former Rawlings Tiger, Jackson Holliday, gets his first Major League Hit
In 2013-2014, while Matt Holliday was playing for the St. Louis Cardinals, a young shortstop by the name of Jackson Holliday was playing his summer baseball for St. Louis Tigers - Robinson.
Quickly, the coaching staff knew this kid was special by how he was able to explode and rotate through the baseball as he swung. This weekend Jackson was able to collect his first hit as a Major League Baseball player. We are proud to see the grown up Jackson living his big league dream and gathering his first of many hits at the highest baseball level possible.
MLB season is in full-swing, but somehow the YouTube algo wanted me to see this video. It wasn't wrong.
The inside look into Bett's workout routine is fun to watch, but also under whelming. It clarifies what works and what doesn't. You won't see any fancy tools or crazy workouts. You see a process...a process that works for him.
Things to key in on when you watch the short video:
1. Know your tasks before heading to the ballpark.
3/ Rawlings Opens: "The Rawlings Experience" in St. Louis
This has been a project in the making. The iconic brand that we wear proudly on our chest has recently opened their flagship store in St. Louis, Missouri.
Nestled in the premium business, dining, and entertainment district it showcases the past, present, and future of ball gloves. You can explore the rich history with a one of a kind timeline with key milestones in the brands history with memorable moments in the game. You can customize your own glove like the pro's, demo cutting upcoming technology, and take a picture with their oversized Gold Glove.
We had one group who crushed pancakes and then went out and played in the championship game on Sunday. See 14U - Black Silva in the Champs Table below.

Gronk spikes the first pitch! Rob Gronkowski the former tight-end of the New England Patriots shows off his famous touchdown spike during the first pitch of the Boston Red Sox game.
Top MLB debuts outside of Jackson Holliday. Baseball social media was taken by storm with Holliday's debut, but who's the top anticipated prospect ever to make it to the show. My vote is Bryce Harper.
