Archer Stankowski

COLUMBUS TIGERS: CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY

"Take all the opportunities you can to get better."

Right Handed Pitcher, Archer Stankowski collected 50 innings pitched for Case Western Reserve University this past spring through 10 starts, adding him to a long list of successful Tiger alumni to have an impact at the collegiate level.

However, long before he was making starts on a college mound, he was taking the ball for the Columbus Rawlings Tigers in Ohio. The right handed pitcher played four years of Tiger baseball from 14U all the way through his 18u summer before heading over to CWRU.

When asked about what role the Tigers played in his path to college baseball, Archer said “The big thing I noticed while playing for the Tigers was having a national brand attached to us. Everyone knew who we were. We saw most teams' best pitchers and hitters. It taught us how to compete at a high level which is easily applied when I went to college showcases.”

Even after his four years with the Tigers, Archer commented on the instant challenges of being a freshman on campus last fall.

“Im stepping on the mound for our first practices and realized everyone 1-9 were the best players on their respective high school teams. There were no more easy outs.” A reality that hits most freshmen in college as they begin their college baseball careers.

Stankowski, a Biomedical Engineering major at Case Western Reserve made mention of how his area of study channeled his college baseball options significantly. Which led to a pretty easy decision for him after touring the campus at CWRU.

“It really came down to two schools for me, Case Western and Johns Hopskins. Being from Columbus, Ohio and Case Western being in Cleveland just made a ton of sense for me. It seemed like a natural fit for me to go here.”

Every player's path is different, but there are certainly benefits to attending a school closer to home.

“I know my parents love being able to drive over to watch me pitch instead of watching the live streams.” Stankowski said.

Stankowski will enter his junior campaign this upcoming spring at Case Western Reserve looking to contribute heavily on the mound for the Spartans following a stint in the Northwoods League, a top premier collegiate summer league bringing players of all levels of college baseball to improve their skills and entertain fans. Archer collected 17.1 innings while pitching for the Minot Hot Tots.

“It was a great experience. Obviously playing everyday is a grind but I learned how to compete even more than I had before.”

From the entire Rawlings Tigers community, we wish Archer luck during this upcoming season both on the baseball field and in the classroom. Give Archer a follow on X @a_stankowski26 along with the Rawlings Tigers @Rawlings_Tigers
